Nothing Like Going Home...

Home for me will always be wherever my family is, so this weekend home sweet home was in St. Anthony, Idaho. It was such a wonderful weekend. Friday afternoon, Shane and I both cut out of work a half an hour early, packed up the car and Boomer, and took off for St. Anthony. We arrived at 9:30 pm which is the earliest I think we have ever been able to get there. Mom was busy making corsages and boutonnieres for the high school prom the next night, and we stayed up talking to her until early into the morning.
Saturday was much the same way; however, my family is really big on playing games, especially card games, and so we passed the time playing Golf and BS. We then ate at Fong's, which Shane and I were dying to eat, (we haven't eaten it since we moved away and loved their Chinese food when we lived there) but unfortunately it was an utter disappointment. No worries, now I don't have to miss Fong's Chinese Cuisine any longer. Later that night was cosmic bowling. All six adults (Steph and Mike were there too), two games, and a really fun night later, we went home and stayed up talking again.
Sunday was relaxing. Swedish pancakes made by Mom. Another wonderful tradition that my kids will surely get to enjoy, even though Shane makes them better than me, and of course talking to Jared! I'm not going to lie, I cried like a baby. I never realized how much I would miss him until he's been gone for so long. He sounded so good, so grown-up, and so happy. Part way through the conversation I was able to stop sobbing and enjoy the conversation. Fifteen more months and he'll be home!!!
Weekends at home, whether in Washington with Mom and Dad and the boys, or Idaho with Mom and Dad and the dogs, (they have three now) two days time is just never enough.
