In July of 2007, Shane and I made a much anticipated purchase of our first Laptop. We had desired such a computer because our desktop was outdated at just 2 years old and seemed to just take up so much space when living in such small quarters as our apartment in Salt Lake was. This brand new laptop became my lifeline. We purchased an internet card so we could literally go anywhere and have internet, even driving down the road. I purchased programs to aid in digital scrapbooking and photo editing, and we built a massive i-Tunes library for our i-pods. We lived off of this computer. Around December 2008 we lost our wi-fi card in the computer as well as a button popping off several months earlier. Having purchased a Best Buy Service Plan when purchasing the computer we took into Best Buy in February. Three weeks later, I had a beautiful new keyboard and a brand new motherboard installed. The repair was over $700.00. We had the computer about three weeks before the video card and motherboard took another nose dive. We hauled it back into Best Buy for another repair and again, three weeks later a new motherboard was installed. This repair was over $600.00. Yesterday we picked up our laptop after the second severe repair and went home. Suffering from an intense migraine, I just put the computer aside and crashed on the couch for two hours. When I woke up I was so excited because now I could conveniently post on my blog and finally use my new scrapbooking software. (I haven’t scrapped in forever and I miss it) I turned on the computer and it loaded and seemed as if everything was working just fine. After the second motherboard was installed we lost everything on the computer and so I set about to install all of the missing programs and virus software. As I was trying to type in a product key, I noticed half of my keys didn’t work. Alas, Shane and I got back in the car, drove back to Best Buy as they were closing and said goodbye to our computer once more. After talking to the Geek Squad Technician, he put a request in for a Junkout, meaning we want a new computer. They have a policy of three major repairs before thy allow this, but there is a possibility we could get a phone call and get to go shopping at Best Buy for a new computer with like components for free! This would be our choice because our laptop is already completely outdated. We can essentially upgrade without paying a dime with a bigger hard drive and more memory if they allow us to Junkout. Either way, I’m dying to have a functioning laptop again.
