Shane’s Grandmother, Grandma Gropp, suffered a stroke on Monday evening. At that time they gave her only 10 days to live. She has signed a DNR and has chosen to pass away in her home. As we watch this process take place, the family all gathers together to say goodbye and to remember the good times. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to watch someone you love wither away, but on the flip side it’s absolutely joyful to see their long and fruitful life come to an end and know that they have so much more to look forward to on the other side. Both Shane and I were talking and in a way there is a jealousy there because here Grandma is at the end of her life, which she lived very well, and she can now go home and start her eternity with her husband who predeceased her by several years. We’ve chosen to be an active part of her last few days by visiting every night that we can, and we’ve also agreed to spend Saturday night with her to make sure her needs are met. We are doing everything we can to make sure she is comfortable and in as little pain as possible. She is ready to go home and we can only hope and pray that it’s quick and painless.

I'm sorry you're going through all this. My grandma had a stroke and is still alive, but it's almost worse to see her to continue to suffer and know she'll never be the exact same woman. Let me know if you need anything.
