I'm obsessed with jewelery. I love jewelery. I have way too much jewelry. I don't wear half of my jewelry because it's becoming discolored. I give away and buy at least two new things of jewelery every month. So what do I do, naturally I learn to make more jewelery this weekend.
I've been on this whole refashion and save money kick lately. I have all of these ideas of how I can making something old, something new but have yet to try to do anything. This weekend; however, as Shane and I were at the craft stores checking out some custom framing prices for this gorgeous picture we just bought from Erica England of 28th Street Photo that we are waiting to arrive, Shane saw this lady telling the cashier about the jewelry she just made and how she is totally addicted now. Shane asked if I wanted to make my own, and I told him of course, but it's too expensive. Shane said let's see what we can come up with. We looked and found that the beginner kits were more expensive than piecing together your own materials. Forty dollars later and a much needed 20% off entire shopping order, I came home with a beginners kit and one set of beads that Shane picked out to get started.
The minute we got home, I felt so bad about spending money and promised to take it all back. To prove my point of not needing it, I cleaned out my earrings, necklaces, and belts-(yes belts) and showed him that I could cut apart and refashion all of these and not spend a dime. He didn't agree. He told me to keep the stuff and have fun. So I sat in front of the TV as we watched our weekly netflix movie and cut apart all of my old jewelry. Then today I made all of these. I'm loving this new hobby. I don't know where I'll find the time after today, or the money to buy more beads, but I'm love, love, loving it!
Because of the excess of jewelery I already have, I plan on selling most of what I make so if you are interested or see anything you like, by all means, please let me know!
This is the first one I made. It's green and silver and is made entirely of refashioned jewelery.
This is the second also made of refashioned jewelery. It's black, yellow, and white. The bracelet I made at my fourth project.
This purple pendant necklace was my third. These are the supplies Shane picked out, and he also designed the layout of how it would go together. These materials are the new ones. I made the earrings fifth and I love them because they are simple and yet dynamic at the same time.
This is the last one I made tonight. I've wanted some orange jewelery and had this necklace that was solid beads that I absolutely hated after I wore it the one time and so I cut it apart and came up with this.
PS-it's really hard to display jewelery short of wearing it and I can't take pictures of myself, so bear with me and trust me some of these just don't do justice unless they are worn!
