Last Friday I was x-rayed, I was poked and prodded, and I was diagnosed. I’m not surgical! (a small prayer was answered as far as that was concerned) However, the news wasn’t all positive, I have Patella femoral Pain Syndrome (or however you spell such a name-more commonly known as Runner’s Knee ) in both knees. Due to the way my body is formed I’m predisposed to the condition and will have to fight it off all of my life. (sigh) My legs form an “x” from waist to toes instead of two parallel lines. What does this mean? Two-three weeks of two-three weekly physical therapy sessions. This morning at the butt-crack of dawn (for me 5 am) I rolled out of bed and got ready for work before I headed to an early hour and a half therapy session.
My specialist is awesome. He knows what he is doing and was able to diagnose several areas of concern by simply watching me walk (sounds creepy), bending my knees to not normal angles/degrees, and testing my strength. His two words would embarrass me throughout the day, “You’re Weak!” I was stunned. I just spent time and loads of money having a personal trainer try to fix my knees and make me strong and they did neither. In fact, they only made me worse. After the session I feel a little discomfort but the pain is far less than expected as he used some aligning techniques to take the load off when I bend. Let’s hope for some progress!
