To Do or Not To Do

This year as I strive to figure out who I am and how I function again as an individual as the time with my husband decreases and my solitude increases as our jobs take us in different directions constantly, I have come to the conclusion that resolutions are pointless.
It is an impossibility to sit down on January 1 and try to plot and guess your entire year and who and what you want to be by December 31. Failing to grasp this idea, every year I futilely wrote down mass amounts of “things that had to be accomplished in one year” and then sought to keep them. I made too many goals and very unreasonable and impractical ones too. At the end of the every year, I would glance back at my progress and be frustrated that I did not complete more than one and sometimes even none!
This year that stops. I obviously found things from last year that I long to change. I obviously have goals that I want to see accomplished, and I’m human so I naturally see areas for potential growth and so another avenue to attempt change was needed.
I may have thrown away my resolutions; however, my “to-do lists” are in order. I have decided these little weekly lists are the best ways to jot down my goals. If I fail to accomplish something in one week then I know where my attention should lie. I can watch my progress in a more immediate manner and discover what goals are a perfect fit and those that are ridiculous.
I guess we shall see…
