Fighting with Fire

It seems that the last three or four weeks, we’ve been fighting fire. It feels like we are going against the grain in everything we do.
We are in the progress of packing up our apartment in the hopes of moving into a newer, bigger place for the remainder of our schooling. The apartment we have chosen is perfect except for two things, one it is in Meridian, and two we have to switch wards. I’m really bummed about the moving wards aspect because I’m really happy where we are. It seems like we just finally (after 2.5 years) found our niche in the ward. We are serving in the primary, teaching the Sunbeams (4 year olds) and the 5 year olds. We also really enjoy the bishopric and the ease we feel with these men. We found the place we want, and I’ve started the paperwork, but for some reason something just doesn’t feel right about moving there and we’ve ran into so many kinks in paperwork/management issues. I’m stuck with what to do because it’s the perfect place for us and we both really want it.
Then there is school. I swear I go to the dumbest and most unorganized school on the planet. I’m more than grateful for the chance to go back to school for half the price and I’m so incredibly grateful we were accepted and all credits transferred so that we could be that much closer to graduation, but this school is new and they have no idea what they are doing. They’ve stalled our financial aid for three weeks now, and said we’d be lucky to see it by next week. That’s a problem because we had to use our paychecks to buy books and could really use that reimbursement. Don’t even get me started on the tax forms they’ve failed to mail to us yet.

In other news,

Shane got a new wonderful job. Better hours, better pay. Who could honestly ask for more? We’ve been so blessed that in a terrible economy, Shane has been able to find a suitable job when so many are unemployed.
We are both working on a program provided by my company called Naturally Slim. The company is promoting weight loss as a means to lower rising health insurance costs. Essentially it’s a “lifestyle change” kind of program and it teaches you to rethink the way you are. In the last 3.5 weeks, I’ve been lucky enough to lose 4 pounds and 8 inches! I’m only averaging a pound a week and it will be over a year before I reach my goal, but the loss is steady and I’m happy with how its progressing.

I guess in the end, we just take the good with the bad and roll with it. We’ve been so blessed in so many things, that a few trials seem almost necessary. I just hope that we can some find some guidance along the way so we don’t make dumb choices.
