The Hubs and I have been counseled several times in the last five years that

Because of this, we are desperately trying to save every penny we have so that we can finally realize our one main goal in life. I'm working on a very delicate project with a very unsure time line.
To enhance this project, I'm starting in my apartment, one room at a time, and remodeling, redecorating, and cleaning. Here's where I ask for your help. Any cheap makeover ideas, blogs or posts you've seen, or ways to make already existing items more functional? I'll be posting before and after posts so that I can gain the most help in this process but for now I'm still brainstorming. We are talking cheap here, folks, and this isn't going to be easy for me so all the help out there will be much appreciated.
