Silhouette and Craftings

I love my Silhouette machine.  Can I just say, for any crafter out there, investing in a cutting machine is totally worth it.  I've used mine so much that I've ruined a mat and have to replace my blade already.  I've had so much fun thinking up things to make.  I'm making several Christmas gifts using the machine as well and so only some of the projects will be posted for now.

I fell in love with these home blocks my sister purchased from a country store and for a year I've had the plain wood blocks sitting in my closet/craft room.  After admiring hers, I asked her wood savvy hubby to cut me some and so he did and even sanded them down for me.  I wrestled with color choices and then got to work.  I've got a very special place in mind for these beauties.

(I especially love the little "welcome")
I've fallen in love with several Christmas Decor items this year but because of my budget, I haven't been able to purchase them.  I started trying to figure out what I could use around the house to make some.  Here's what I've come up with.  I took a frame and covered it with a paper with the phrase "Be Merry" and then put it back on the shelf.  Because it was free, if we end up hating it we'll just throw it out.  For now, I think it looks perfect on my shelf and helps tie the holiday theme throughout my entire house instead of just one room.

There is also this "Noel" Pottery Barn knock off going around the internet.  But again because I couldn't afford the wood lettering, I used red vinyl, canvas, and clear spray paint.  I actually like it more because it's not too bold for my decorating liking.
That's it for now, but I'll have several more posted after Christmas.

Your lettering is perfect - how did you get the 'welcome' so perfect?
