Catching Our Breath

Wow! It’s amazing, I feel like we are finally slowing down, until next week anyway. Now that we have closed on our home, I feel like I can breathe a little. Throughout the month of January there were a lot of ups and downs and missed timelines regarding the house. In order to keep my mind in check, I started planning, designing and mentally spending money on the house. I drove Shane nuts! I think we went to Lowe’s once a week, yes, sometime even twice, just to check on things we’d already seen. He’s been a trooper. After signing the mountain of paperwork, I immediately felt better. I don’t care about what we put inside or when. I’m just so glad to have a place to call our own and get away from our dreadful neighbors.

Amongst all of the waiting, we got word that Shane would definitely be graduating this semester and that both of us will be able to walk together at our graduation this spring. He is full speed ahead in his last semester and is already counting down the last 11 weeks. His plans after that, pick a major, quit his job and go back to school full-time once and for all. I’d be crazy if I didn’t admit we are hoping to have a little one by then that he can take care of while I work so we can save on daycare costs. After school is over, we hope to pull the swap where I stay home and he goes to work. That’s obviously the ideal situation, but for now, we are just rolling with the punches.

Although our winter has been pretty lame, not much snow mixed with bitter cold, it is with much excitement we look forward to the wonderful spring and summer. We hope to plant our first garden and Shane is so excited to buy his lawnmower. His dad joked with him last night that he could borrow his riding lawn mower and Shane laughed and said “he would do about three or four circles, get dizzy, and be done” and Dad just replied,” Well at least you’d be doing it in style!” Needless to say, we have many projects and fun things planned for this coming year and look forward to the new things that will come with owning a house.

Bear with us, we are still here and still posting-just a little busier than usual.
