The Path to Perfection...

Perfection is a process. This is a gospel of eternal progress, and we must remember to appreciate the journey. –Bonnie D. Parkin

This quote is a perfect way to sum up what Shane and I have made 2009 all about. Last year Shane and I felt like everything was against us, like nothing could go right. We were swimming against the current upstream all of the time. We were getting exhausted, worn down, and feeling like there was no hope in ever seeing peace. It was a very sour year and to make it worse we were unable to visit family even half as often as we were used to.
With the coming of 2009, Shane and I have worked to change that attitude. We have set several goals, some very small and some very large like the one I’ve already shared about our dreams of owning our own home. We started working toward “perfection” in the early part of December and have been working hard everyday. We have our goals posted in several places like in our bedroom, in wallets and purses, on the bathroom mirror, and on the fridge so as not to forget them and so we keep going forward and challenging ourselves everyday.
The best part about some of our goals is that we can see progress daily. One goal is to read a new book each month. I’ve already read two and so can see the change that’s made. Another goal is to cook meals. We haven’t eaten out in a month now! Many of these goals we will see success as early as February and some we may never see full success but we keep pushing anyway because the change of attitude means more than the actual completion of the goal. We hope to buy our first house sometime in May or June, but are being realistic in knowing that due to the economy that just may not happen for us, and that’s okay because at least we will be in monetary situation to do so later because of all of the hard work we are putting in now.
One thing we do know for sure. We have been blessed beyond measure these last few weeks just because of our positive attitudes and change in mindset. Because of the blessing of means (not all monetary) to make all of our dreams come true, Shane and I know it’s bound to be a great year!

We had a year like that! You can definitely have a better year the goals you've set! Be optimistic and the thing I like to go by and helps me is a saying...if you're not flexible you'll break! Congrats to you guys and we wish you the best for 2009!!
