Spending Time Wisely?

I have been without Internet access since last Tuesday because I’ve had so much fun downloading digital scrap booking elements that I ended up using all of my 5GB allowance on my Internet card before the renewal period. I have also been without my laptop since last Wednesday due to the Wi-Fi card burning out. (That’s the real reason I went over my Internet allowance) Having not had access to these “lifelines” that I demand usage of each day made me realize just how much time I’ve spent wasting away doing unproductive things. I love the Internet. I love blogging and social networking, and I love my digital scrap booking. I couldn’t imagine giving these up permanently. I suffer these same addictions to certain television programs each week. Luckily during the writer’s strike they canceled several of my favorites making it easier for me to say no, but there are still a few out there. Last week without the computer and Internet, I also found myself not wanting to watch TV and was able to see what a difference in “free time” my life actually had. I got so much accomplished and enjoyed my five hours before bed after work instead of thinking that it went by far too fast. It was a great lesson that in order to change the monotony of my life (sleep, eat, work, exercise, eat, TV/computer time and then sleep again) all I had to do was eliminate the time consuming things that only bring temporary entertainment. I’m still going to surf the Internet, I’m still going to spent time watching TV, but I’m going to limit the time spent and the time wasted and maybe find that my life is a lot more fulfilling than previously thought.
