Cali!

A couple years back, when Shane and I had been married for a little over a year and a half, we decided to add to our little family. I fell in love with a kitten with the most beautiful blue eyes and wanted badly to take her home and name her Misty. Shane and I decided that was a no go because our apartment didn't allow pets at the time, but he promised that if she was still there in a week and I still wanted her I could have her. A week went by and we went looking for her. She turned out to be a he, and she was definitely still there. Shane let me take him home. We then needed to find a name that suited him better than Misty and headed off to Walmart to look at paint cards to match his eyes. We came across Dusted Indigo and Dusty was born. He was a riot. This little cat was all personality. He used to chase my brother-in-law, Michael down the hall and jump up and attack him from behind. He loved to play and he loved to cuddle. He was the perfect kitty.

Shortly after Shane and I moved to Boise in 2007, Dusty became very ill. He was only two years old at this point and so we took him to the vet for some help. They ran $300 worth of tests, hooked him up to an IV, and sent him home. He proceeded to get worse and the poor little guy had to be put down. By this time we had already brought Boomer home, and had two other cats as well so the coping was pretty easy. After finding new homes for the other two cats however, Shane said he didn't ever want another one.

I'm a cat person, always have been, always will be. In fact, the cat I grew up with from the time I was ten years old is still alive and well at my parents home. The only reason Boo-Boo doesn't come to live with me is because he is and always has been an outdoor cat and living in apartments doesn't really coincide with that lifestyle. Well as of lately I've been asking Shane for a kitty. I've asked like literally once a week for probably the greater of three months and every time he has said no.

Shane went to work on Friday and a co-worker found a litter of orphaned kittens, less than a week old. The co-worker was going to take them to the Humane Society where they were going to put them to sleep because of the work it takes to nurse an orphaned animal to health. He asked if Shane wanted one and after looking into the box and seeing one all alone in the corner and not being allowed to eat, he decided to bring home a surprise. Having only one car, Shane picked me up from work and said I have a surprise for you out in the car. Sure enough I opened a box and a beautiful blue-eyed kitty awaited me. She is tiny and she's a handful. We have to bottle feed her every four hours and she wakes us up meowing every two, but she is adorable and I'm so excited Shane let me have another pet.
