Today, I had my first meeting for the FSA board. I am so grateful to be able to volunteer my time with this wonderful group of people. I’m even more honored to be asked to be a part of the board. I was asked to help with communication. I basically am in charge of updating and reminding the board, current adoptive couples, and future adoptive couples of things happening in the adoption world. I also volunteered to help with the yearly service project. We are making gifts for the birth moms and I’m in charge of gathering beads and making bracelets. I’m really excited for the next couple of months and will surely be busy. In September I get to attend another meeting and introduce the incoming couples in the monthly orientation. Then in October and November I get to attend four really great education classes (which are going to be amazing because there were some great ideas presented), help with a service project and be involved in National Adoption Month. How wonderful it is to be able to forget about the waiting and finding stages and embrace the friendships available to me. I am no longer worried about when or why I do not have children and am grateful to be “chosen to adopt” as my caseworker lovingly put it. For today anyway, I feel peace and love in my situation. I cannot always say this is the case, but today is a good day.
