Birth Mom Panel-FSA Meeting #2

Last night we had the immense pleasure of meeting and talking to four birth moms and one birth father. The FSA group, provided a question and answer opportunity in which the potential adoptive parents could ask their burning questions. The spirit was so strong inside the relief society room. There were over 50 people crammed inside and tears were in the eyes of several in attendance. I have been deeply humbled about the sacrifice they are making and the gift they are giving. I don't have a birth mom yet, but I can truly say that I love each and every one of them and am so grateful that we have the opportunity to partake of such a special blessing and miracle. At this point in my life, I'm pretty at peace with our situation and am actually looking forward to our chance to adopt and wouldn't change anything at this time in my life.

We were extremely blessed to have my mother come along with us. It was such a relief to have that extra family support and to open our hearts up and let our family into the process. It is such, that unless you are going through the process, whether birth parents or adoptive, no one can truly understand how you feel and what you are thinking. After listening to the five birth parents, I also came to realize that each story is completely individual.

I have a new found respect and love for birth mothers and fathers who make the sacrifice to give their child that they may not be able to provide for to couples who can't bear their own and will be eternally grateful for this experience.

I had a chance to listen to to the stories of post-postpartum birth mothers. One still kept in touch and had pictures with her of her birth son going through the temple with his adoptive family. The other cool thing is that he even looked like his adoptive family. That seemed to me like a little sign that this boy was always meant to be with his adoptive family. I hope everything pans out smoothly for you two and pray that YOUR little one will be in your arms soon. Good luck!
