Neighbors

We got new neighbors on Saturday.  We've been without for several weeks now and we've really grown to love that fact.  No need to keep the sound system down, no need to worry about where to park, and no need for a leash for Boomer.  Then as our new neighbors unpacked their cars over the course of the next two days, we had to reign our habits back in.  Sunday evening, the neighbors first night in the new place, we had some drama.  Screaming, yelling, and kicking out a roommate.  Shane and I both agreed that it was time to find a new place because we just don't have the patience for that right now.  We prayed, we searched, we drove by, and nothing seemed perfect.  And then we got to talking about the ward.  Drat!  I love our ward.  Absolutely love our ward.  It's the only thing keeping us here.  Seriously.  So then we talked and prayed some more and realized it just wasn't smart to move.  It would cost us $1200.00 in deposits just to relocate because of our cat and dog and the actual apartment deposit as well.  Then factor in new carpet in this crappy place and a rental truck for the day and we are out some serious cash just to find another apartment that might have more crappy neighbors.  I was devastated to say the least.  We have lived in this dump for three years! (Although it's actually a fairly nice place with loads of privacy and a little yard, I'm ready for something new)  I cannot believe it.  Before we had even been married two years, we had lived in three different apartments and now we can't seem to get out of this one.  Because of a cut in income we knew that saving $1200 would be much more lucrative and that in the end no sacrifice was to great.  So after renting month to month for a little while, we finally called up our apartments and have since signed a new 9 month lease to take away the desire of leaving this place.  We will save every penny we have until then and hopefully make one last move into something permanent.  Bad neighbors and all, it looks like we will be in this apartment for almost 4 years.  I guess it's not all bad though because at least we don't have to update our home study and have our caseworker come walk the new place.  Taking the good with the bad, I guess.

I hear you! Our neighbor's kids loved to play night games right outside my bedroom window. I have to go to bed around 9/ 9:30pm to get to my job by 6am and one of their favorite games was "ghost in the graveyard." If you know that one it is loud! After politely talking to them several times they finally thought of some quieter games. That is one neighbor. Our other neighbor leaves notes on our car when we park on the street to "please park in our own driveway." There were a few weeks of weekdays that we had to park on the street for various reasons. Turns out he doesn't like where we park when we have to park on the street because that is where he parks his boat when they plan to go boating.
It kinda goes without saying that we have some rich(or largely in debt) snobby neighbors.
To make a long story short (too late) I hear ya when it comes to turning the other cheek about your lovely neighbors. Good luck!
